The second generation of Hal / Supernova Pen is available now. The new Pen includes a read-only section housing the screen reader which keeps viruses away. The available version is 11.58. It includes Acapela’s TTS engines: Laila, Salma, Mehdi, Saieda and Heather. Customers may upgrade their existing Pens or upgrade from the CD version to the Pen.
The first weekly meeting on Skype was launched last night, December 21st, 2010. The event was an initiative by Mr. Ahmad Khater who is known for his elaborate Braille Sense Plus audio tutorials. Mr. Khater, who teaches in Helwan University in Egypt, mediated the virtual meeting which was attended by various users of the device as well as Nattiq’s technical staff and managment.
Nattiq released the latest version, 5.55, of Firmware for the Braille Sense Plus. Two flavors of the firmware were released: Arabic based system and English based system with Arabic functionality.

Mr. Ahmad Khater provides us with lesson 2 of using the Braille Sense Plus. Mr. Khater describes all keys on the unit and their functions along with hands-on practice. Short cuts, hot keys and fast keys are described in details.
Nattiq’s Chief Technical Engineer, Mr. Mohammed Ramadan, delivered a custom training targeted for blind employees in call centers. Four Omanies were placed in competitive jobs in Call Centers used by Telecom companies. Mr. Ramadan created the required map files and scripts required to for Hal screen reader to access database and communication software deployed in such centers.
Nattiq is pleased to announce the availability of another Braille Sense Plus upgrade. Arabic Version users benefit most from the upgrade. Another group of users who require English based Braille Sense Plus with some Arabic capabilities may also benefit from the upgrade. Two different flavors are available accordingly.
