لتشغيل برنامج ما، عليك أولا أن تجد الأيقونة الخاصة به في جزء سطح المكتبdesktop ثم تضغط على مفتاح الإدخال. أما إذا لم تكن هناك أيقونة للبرنامج في هذا الجزء فعندها يتوجب عليك أن تقوم بالبحث عن البرنامج الذي تريد تشغيله في القائمة الفرعية - البرامج - الموجودة في قائمة إبدأ التشغيل. على أي الأحوال عليك أن تعثر على اسم أو أيقونة البرنامج وتضغط إزاءه على مفتاح الإدخال وعندها سوف يعمل البرنامج ويكون بإمكانك استخدام جميع خصائصه.
تحرير وتنسيق النصوص:
إذا كنت تستخدم برنامج - معالج نصوص - مثل Microsoft Word أو Notepad فإنه بإمكانك أن تقرأ النصوص وكذلك أن تُدخِلها وتُجري عليها التعديل والتنسيق اللازمين باستخدام برنامجHal الناطق باللغات العربية والأجنبية. وفيما يلي بعض التعليمات العامة التي يمكن إتّباعها عند إدخال وتعديل النصوص:
أولاً- استخدم مفاتيح الأسهم للتحرك داخل النص كما يلي:
1. مفاتيح أسهم اليمين واليسار تحرك المؤشر cursor حرفا واحدا مع كل ضغطة على المفتاح إلى اليمين أو إلى اليسار وتقرأ الحرف السابق أو التالي على الترتيب.
2. مفاتيح الأسهم الأعلى والأسفل تحرك المؤشر للأعلى والأسفل وتقرأ السطر السابق والسطر التالي على الترتيب.
3. control + السهم اليمين وcontrol + السهم اليسار تقرأ الكلمة السابقة والتالية.
4. مفتاح home ينقل المؤشر إلى بداية السطر الحالي.
5. مفتاح end ينقل المؤشر إلى نهاية السطر الحالي.
6. مفتاحيْ control + home تنقل المؤشر إلى بداية الوثيقة.
7. مفتاحيْ control + end تنقل المؤشر إلى نهاية الوثيقة.
8. مفتاح page up ينقل المشيرة إلى بداية الصفحة السابقة
9. مفتاح Page down ينقل المشيرة إلى بداية الصفحة اللاحقة
10. مفتاح backspace يمحو الحرف الواقع إلى يسار المشيرة مباشرة.
11. مفتاح delete يمحو الحرف الذي يقع عليه المؤشر.
12. مفتاح control delete يمحو الكلمة التي تلي المؤشر.
13. مفتاح control backspace يمحو الكلمة التي قبل المؤشر.
