ATL!+\*j]L6Internet Explorer 5.5 - 6.0gMap version: 2.09 Internet Explorer is a web browser provided by Microsoft. Internet Explorer is the web browser we recommend because of its inbuilt accessibility options. For more information on Internet Explorer visit www.microsoft.com/ie. This map supports Internet Explorer version 5.5 and 6.0. This map file also supports the WebFormator v2 from Audiodata (www.webformator.de). Please refer to the last section in these application notes for further details. +++ Useful Configuration Tips In Internet Explorer, with the status bar visible, using the speak status bar key will let you know the download status of the opening page. To read the status bar: Press NUMPAD 2 (or LEFT SHIFT + F12 if using Function Key hot keys) If the status bar is selected but you are informed "no status bar" then a pop-up window (e.g. an advertisement) is likely to hold the focus. In this case, press ALT + F4 to close the pop-up window. This will return you to the main web page. To avoid difficult colour combinations presented on some web pages, select the Tools menu, then the Internet Options item. In the dialog box that appears, under the General tab, locate the Accessibility button and select "Ignore colours specified on web pages". It is also possible to ignore font sizes and font styles here too. In the Advanced tab in the Internet Options dialog you will also find other useful settings including the ability to hide pictures which will speed up the time it takes to download pages. +++ Useful Internet Explorer Hot Keys Go to previous page ALT + CURSOR LEFT Go to next page ALT + CURSOR RIGHT Refresh the current page F5 Stop page downloading ESCAPE Go to a new location CONTROL + O Go to your home page ALT + HOME Go to the Address Bar ALT + D +++ There are also a number of custom actions set to help navigate web pages, of which, the primary tool is auto virtual focus mode. Note that not all lists maybe available on every web page as the lists depend on the way the page has been scripted. +++ Monitor Markers The Internet Explorer map file contains a monitor marker for the Info bar. The Info bar appears when a web page attempts to pop-up a window. This is part of the pop-up blocker tool that is installed with Windows XP Service Pack 2. When the info bar appears the contents of the bar will be output automatically. The Infobar is defined as an area virtual focus object, this means it can be reached by pressing NUMPAD SLASH (or F2 if using the Function Key hot key set). When the Infobar is reached it is possible to click on it using the virtual focus mouse emulation hot keys. Monitor markers can be turned on/off by pressing LEFT CONTROL + 5 or by selecting/unselecting the appropriate checkbox in the Monitor Markers dialog, reached through the Speech menu in the Hal/Supernova control panel. To learn more about web page navigating please visit the support pages on the Dolphin web site (www.yourdolphin.com) where practical tutorials are available. +++ Macromedia Flash If you use this map file together with the Default Application map V2.13 then you will be able to take advantage of extended Macromedia Flash support. Please note that the accessibility of Macromedia Flash depends on the way the Flash object was created and on the version of Flash you have installed. For more information please refer to the Macromedia Website at: http://www.macromedia.com/resources/accessibility/ How to use the Macromedia Flash support: Your Dolphin Screen Reader will announce Macromedia Flash objects on a web page as "Embedded Flash Control". When the focus is on the "Embedded Flash Control" press SPACEBAR to make the flash object the focus item and then press DOLPHIN KEY + F to switch to Virtual Focus mode and start reading the contents of the Flash object. (By default the Dolphin Key is CAPS LOCK). To return to the previous focus type (normally Auto Virtual Focus) press DOLPHIN KEY + F again. +++ WebFormator This map file includes support for the WebFormator v2.x by Frank Audiodata (www.webformator.de). The support for WebFormator is based on a map file supplied by Rene Ludwig, Tieman GmbH. Please enable the checkbox "select objects" if you want speech output of the currently selected link when using tab or shift+tab for webpage navigation. Use F12 to switch between WebFormator and Internet Explorer, and F1 in WebFormator will display the help. Limitation: Document Read in WebFormator will only read the text that's currently visible.
